Like many blue light organisations across the UK, South Wales Fire and Rescue Service (SWFRS) has become increasingly reliant on its technology infrastructure to store, access and share vital fire safety and related information
Already using Microsoft Content Management Server 2002 (MS-CMS 2002) for its website (implemented by Draig in 2005), SWFRS now needed a system which was based on a proven template/framework and would help future proof the organisation as it moved forward.
With the release of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (MOSS 2007), an upgrade path from MS-CMS 2002 was available which would substantially improve the capability, stability and ease of use of the Content Management System (CMS) at SWFRS.
Using our proven MOSS 2007 CMS templates and enhancements, Draig Technology quickly implemented a state of the art CMS for SWFRS and ensured it was ‘AA’ compliant. In addition the new-look system enabled SWFRS to create a fully bilingual website that complied with their Welsh Language Scheme.
SWFRS are now leveraging the Intranet and EDRMS (Electronic Document and Record Management System) capabilities of MOSS 2007 to improve its document management capability significantly and reduce the time needed to comply with data requests under the Freedom of Information Act.
In addition SWFRS team members will be able to search for and access often vital information quickly and securely. This can also be shared securely with other organisations and partners as required.
